EXPECT ELECTION
MR. BARCLAY'S HINT
"RATS" WHO LEFT LABOUR (0.C.) WHANG ARE I, this day. "If the war goes on as at present I think an election this year would be a gocd idea, and I am half expecting it," said the Minister of Marketing, Mr. Barclay, at Hikurangi last night in his first political address of the year. "We believe the people should have the opportunity of exercising their rights," he added. "There are only two parties in New Zealand. If vou divide Labour you let the Nationalists in. I have no time for the Democrat Labour party, which is doing its utmost to destroy the Labour party because its leaders could not get their own way, and are playing into the hands of the Opposition. , , "I have no time for the 'rats' who went outside the party. I do not believe in the old monetary system, but rather in the middle course which the Government is now trying to steer in war finance, stabilisation and social security." Answering an interjector, Mr. Barclay said that the doctors, owiE-> to the income tax. were not getting as much out of the social security fees as many imagined.
