HOSTEL FOR WOMEN
In reply to representations that a hostel for women members of the armed forces was necessary in the city, the Mayor, Mr. Allum, stated yesterday that the Young Women's .Christian Association had substantial accommodation available, which v/as not being used. He Understood that the general number accommodated at the week-end was about 30, with a maximum of about 40, while $he accommodation available was'far in excess of these figures. Mr. Allum .added that a lounge and rest room for women of the services' was shortly to be opened by the Women's War Service Auxiliary in Queen's Arcade. This project would have financial support from patriotic funds.
