HUNT WEDDING

CAIDER—BERTRAM The marriage took place at St. Luke's Anglican Church, Rotorua, on Friday, of Joan Katherine, second daughter of Dr. and Mrs. H. H. Bertram, of Rotorua, to the Rev. Matthew Lewis Calder, second son of the Rev. Jasper Calder, M.8.E., and Mrs. Calder, of the Auckland City Mission. True to hunting traditions, the bride was accorded an official Hunt wedding, this being made possible by the fact that her father has been Master of the Hunt Club since its inception, and this entitled his daughter the privilege of a Hunt wedding. Miss Bertram has also been an enthusiastic follower of the hunt ever since the club was formed, and the bridegroom, who is a member of the Cambridge Hunt Club, was attired in full hunting costume. The marriage ceremony was performed by the Rev. Jasper Calder, and the music was played by Miss Jessie Wallace. The bride, v/ho was given away by her father, wore a picture frock of cream stiffened net lace with very full skirt failing from a basque of the same material. The bodice which had a v ; . neck, was finished with scalloped refers, and was completed with full bishop sleeves. She wore a shoulder-length veil of the same material which was held in place with a top knot of red rosebuds and carried a bouquet of the same flowers. The only bridesmaid was Miss Erima Bertram, sister of the bride, who wore a frock of honey gold crepe with a gold thread running through it, cut on Grecian lines. She wore a red rosebud in her hair and her bouquet was also of red rosebuds. The duties of best man were carried out by Captain M. Sullivan, of Te Awamutu. A reception was later held at Glenholme, the home of the bride's parents.
