AIRMAN KILLED IN CAR

(P.A.) DUNBDIN, Sunday. A fatal motor accident involving the death of an airman occurred on the main Dunedin - Port Chalmers highway early this morning. The victim was: Leading-Aircraftman Alured Harry Dowle, aged 19, a member of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, attached to a South Island station. His home was at Caversham, Dunedin. The fatality occurred at 2 a.m., when a rental motor car, driven by Mr. Garth Butler, of Dunedin, was returning from Port Chalmers. The car overturned and Leading-Aircraft-man Dowle, who was a passenger in the back seat, suffered injuries from which he died in hospital at 5.35 a.m. Other passengers in the car were Messrs. James William Mitchell and Kenneth Parish. Mr. Mitchell was not injured, and Messrs. Parish and Butler suffered slight cuts and abrasions. An inquest was opened to-day and adjourned.
