ROAD SIGNS BROKEN

In order to stamp out the widespread destruction of road direction and warning signs, the Automobile Association (Auckland) is offering a reward of £5 for information leading to the conviction of vandals. Signs are being deliberately wrenched off the posts and are either being left in a broken state on the road, or in cases of metal discs, the signs have entirely disappeared. Instances of lengths of road up to one mile have been found where every sign has been broken. An appeal is made by the Automobile Association to men of the armed forces, police and country residents living adjacent to signposts for co-operation in apprehending offenders.
