HELENS VILLE TOURNEY

The downfall of Neil's Hillsboro rink yesterday afternoon after coming through the section play without a loss and then holding on to his two lives_ up to the fourth round of the post-section was tl>c feature of the closing stages of the Helensville Bowling Club's annual tournament. In the fifth round Neil met the Balmoral rink skipped by W. Rowe, an old Ngaruawahia and Papakura player, and suffered his first defeat. Then came his downfall, being put out by Lancaster (Carlton), who has J. Duncan as his No. 3, with Montgomery and Pearce in the other positions. Results were:— Fourth Round.—Anton. Elliott, Ellis, Hunt (Helensville) 23. beat Clifle, Walters. Wilson, Smith (Helensville) 16; Clark, Crawshaw. Longvllle, Neil (Hillsboro) 24, beat Pearce, Montgomery, Duncan, Lancaster (Carlton) 11;. Meltzer, Harewood. Hill, Rowe (Balmoral) 24, beat E. Thomas, Walker, Vinson, Thomas (Mount Albert) 13. Smith -and Thomas were eliminated. Fifth Round. —Rowe 27, beat Nell 15; Lancaster 19, beat Hunt 13. Hunt eliminated. Semi-flnal. —Lancaster 25. beat Nell 8. Neil eliminated. Meltzer a bye.
