TE AKOHA WINS TAURAXGA

After a stirring final victory went to last year's winner at the Tauranga Combined Clubs' annual bowling carnival. Powell retained his two lives right to the end, pulling off the Pascoe Cup by a single point over L. J. Keys Auckland rink. The latter only lost two games throughout the tourney. . Fortunes fluctuated throughout in the final game. Auckland started well and led at the sixth nead by eight points to nil. Te Aroha, however, had drawn level at the conclusion of the ninth, with the score 9 all. A three and a brace on the 10th and 11th heads respectively gave Te Aroha a lead of live. Auckland responded with a three and three successive twos to make the score at the ei.d ot the 15th head 18—14 in its favour. On the Kith Te Aroha gained a two and then a single on the next. Lach scored singles on the next two heads. Te Aroha notched a five on the 20th, Auckland responding with a three on the final head to be one point in arrears. The teams contesting the final were:— Bliss, Austin, Rosenfeld, Powell (le Aroha) and Baker, McPhail, Headley, Keys (Auckland). Powell, who was beaten in the section play, went through the intersection undefeated. Keys came through the section play unbeaten and was defeated by Powell twice in the intersection.
