SOMETHING ATTEMPTED

AXD SOMETHING DONE When Mr. Frank Harris set out to provide as many sets of indoor bowls as he possibly could for the benefit of convalescing and wounded soldiers at the hospitals in the Auckland province, he undertook a big task. He acknowledges wonderful support from the outdoor bowling fraternity who have donated their old bowls to be turned down to the indoor size. Up to date he has been able to supply the following:— Rotorua, three sets, two through the ioint committee of the Order of St. John and the Red Cross and one from Te Awamutu which was intended for Hamilton, but could not be accommodated; Auckland military annexe, two sets on loan from the Orange Club; Green Lane Convalescent annexe one set, and the convalescent hospital at Bombay will receive one set this week-end, a total of 112 bowls. Mr. Harris still has applications from institutions ior bowls which are proving of inestimable value in the curative treatment, and he would be grateful for further old outdoor bowls. Also, up to the present he has not received any kitties, which are, of course, essential to the game and cannot be purchased at the present time.
