SLEEP HUNDRED

QUARTERS IN CITY

AMERICAN RED CROSS CLUB

The sleeping quarters on the upper floor of the American Red Cross Service Club are expected to be ready in a few days, and will accommodate 100. Comfortable double bunks that look like beds have been installed in a number of rooms, some taking four, others two. In addition, there is a dormitory which has 20 double bunks, accommodating 40 men.

All the beds and their thick mattresses have been made in New Zealand. There will be a place to hang clothes in each room, but no other furniture. Most of the rooms were already nicely papered in light colours, but others, together with the passages, have been newly painted in a fresh primrose colour. New showers and plumbing have been installed, and there are several washrooms. A room in which servicemen may stow their gear has also been set aside.

The men will be allowed to sleep until 10 a.m., their quarters being divided off from those of the staff.
