GOLDEN JUBILEE

W. PARKINSON AND CO. To-day the firm of W. Parkinson and Co. (Auckland), Ltd., celebrated its golden jubilee. It was on February 11, 1893, that Mr. W. Parkinson opened a small monumental mason's yard in Victoria Street West, the foundation of the company which, after 50 years of service to the public, is now the largest of its kind in New Zealand. About 10 years ago the company acquired the Moehau granite quarries, opening the main reef, which gave a uniform colour and texture to the granite. To-day, Mr. Parkinson is proud of the fact that the company has never had any serious disputes with its employees, who are skilled craftsmen, some having been in their employment for 35 years. Sons of Mr. Parkinson, Messrs. Harold H. Parkinson and Stanley G. Parkinson, are directors who personally supervise the work of the company.
