U.S. Combat Planes Equal Those Of Other Nations MODEL OF NEW FIGHTER Rec. 11 a.m. WASHINGTON, Feb. 9. Dr. George Lewis, director of aeronautical research, testifying before the House of Representatives Appropriations Committee, said that American combat planes had kept abreast of the best produced by any other nation, and . new, faster and longer range craft will soon be forthcoming. Dr. Lewis showed the committee the model of a new Mustang fighter, Psl, which is the best pursuit plane which America now has. The Appropriations Committee, when approving the appropriations bill for independent officers to-day, without explanation, completely deleted provision for President Roosevelt's National Resources Planning Board, which has been making postwar studies.
