WOMEN HELP
NATIONAL SAVINGS PROMOTING ACTIVE INTEREST A meeting of women's organisations in Wellington recently decided to form a national saving women's sub-committee with the object of accelerating the sale of national savings stamps and generally assisting to promote interest in individual and group national savings accounts. The meeting was the outcome of a resolution by the Wellington National Savings Committee, forwarded to the W.W.S.A., which arranged it. Mrs. P. Fraser, president of the auxiliary, was in the chair. Mr. J. M. A. Ilott, chairman of the Wellington National Savings' Committee, and Mr. C. F. A. Waters, secretary, addressed the gathering. Both said that if women took over the task of pushing the scheme along they would surely give an excellent lead to other towns. National savings stamps were on sale in many shops, but' they were not displayed or publicised sufficiently. If customers said, "Can't you give me a national savings stamp as part of my change?" shopkeepers would become actively interested. It was in promoting this interest that women could help, said the speakers.
