CHEST HOSPITAL PLANS
Following a report by a special committee on the layout and services to be provided for the chest hospital to be erected in the Green Lane Hospital grounds, the Auckland Hospital Board's building committee last night recommended that the architect be directed to proceed with the preparation of sketch plans and estimates for the construction in brick and concrete of a chest hospital to accommodate 240 patients and a nurses' home for a proportionate number of nurses. The board approved the recommendation. and agreed to notify the Department of Health accordingly. This was done following an instruction from the Director-General of Health that before dealing with the proposed eastern wing of the Green Lane Hospital the board should give its first consideration to plans and specifications for a chest hospital.
