Thomas Desmond Grattan, aged 21, of Te Aroha, who was thrown during . the running of the Tirau Hurdles on Saturday, is in the Waikato Hospital with a fractured ankle. His mount, Starvaals, hit the first fence in the straight and. although Grattan made a plucky attempt to regain his seat, he was dislodged and fell heavily.
