FORMER U.S. MINISTER
WILSON'S COLLEAGUE DEAD Rec. 11.30 a.m. NEW YORK, Feb. 8. The death is announced of Frank Polk, who was Under-Secretary of State in the Wilson Cabinet. Frank Lyon Polk, born in New York City in IS7I, and educated at Yale and Columbia Universities, entered the legal profession in 1897. He was president of the Civil Service Commission of New York 1908 to 1909. From 1915 to 1919 he was counsellor for the Department of State, and Under-Secretary of State 1919 to 1920. He was appointed commissioner plenipotentiary of the United States to negotiate peace in July, 1919, and headed the American delegation to the Peace Conference at Paris, from July 28 to December 9, 1919.
