SOLDIERS' WIVES
"Think Again" is probably one of those mothers with children old enough to be a help and a bit of company at night. Her husband apparently went away of his own free will and didn't wait to be conscripted. I admire him, but I don't see why men should be taken from their families while fit single men from 22 to 28 are making the boast around the town that they are earning £12 per week on essential work, so essential that they can have three weeks' holiday and attend all race meetings. We are expected to keep homes and feed and clothe children on one-third that amount. Reading "Never Give Up's" letter shows us what expect when our men come home wounded and unfit. Is it any wonder that we are all NERVOUS WRECKS.
