DAMAGED AIR LINER
SALVAGE OPERATIONS (P.A.) DUNEDIN, Sunday. Salvage operations on the disabled air liner Kuaka, which made a forced landing on the slopes of Flagstaff Hill on Friday, were commenced to-day by Union Airways ground staff and members of the Air Force. A bulldozer was used to clear a track to the nearest road way.
By the end of the day the machine had been dismantled and the engines removed. The fuselage was raised on to the landing wheels and with the wings will to-morrow be eased down the hill by the bulldozer and taken to the airport. All the repairs will be made at the company's local hangars. The manager of the Union Company, Mr. G. P. Booth, described the salvage as a magnificent job.
