CIVIL DEFENCE

FUTURE TRAINING DISCUSSION THIS WEEK

(0.C.) WELLINGTON, this day. An important .conference connected with the Dominion's civil defence system is to commence in Wellington on Friday. At this conference the recently announced decisions of the War Cabinet regarding E.P.S. activities, and the measures which are to be taken to put them into practice, will be discussed. It is therefore probable that the conference will decide the lines of the future training programme for those enrolled in ihe civil defence services. The Mayors of the four chief cities, who are district controllers of the E.P.S., as well as the mayors of other centres, have been invited to the conference by the. Minister of Civil Defence, Mr. Wilson. The three regional "commissioners will also be present. Meanwhile, the E.P.S. training school continues with its first operational course, and by the end of this month the 33 trainees at present attending the school will be in a position to carry out any decisions made by this week's conference.
