Americans On North-west Coast Of GuadalcanalMOVE TO TURN JAP. FLANK British Official Wireless Rec. 1.30 p.m. RUGBY, Feb. 7. American forces have established a strong position at Tipi, half a mile west of Marovovo, on the north-west coast of Guadalcanar, and have placed themselves in position to turn the Japanese western flank, says an American Navy communique. No enemy resistance has been reported. Patrol operations are progressing satisfactorily. On Saturday morning small groups of American planes bombed enemy positions on Kolombangara Island, New Georgia. During the evening. Dauntless dive-bombers, with Wildcat escort, bombed Munda, New Georgia. All the American planes returned. !
