KNOCK-OUT WIN
a FITZGERALD HEATS WILLIAMS Les Fitzgerald (9.4!->) knocked out Teddy Willinms (9.10) in the seventh round of a match scheduled for 12 rounds at the Rushcutter Bay Stadium (Sydney) last Saturday night. Williams was down for eight seconds early in the seventh round, and when he got up was floored for nine seconds. A short right caught Williams on the chin as the second minute was reached. Williams fell on his face, and the referee, without imposing the count, stopped the encounter. Williams could not have responded. He was cheered for his game display. Williams was knocked through the ropes, and took the count for six seconds in the first round. He was down twice in the third term, and his left eye was cut during the fourth round. Williams fought bravely in the fifth and sixth rounds in the face of severe punishment. Lcichhardt.—Eight rounds: Teddy Lawlcr, 8.8. outpointed A. Thomas. 8.3.
