"TOO MUCH RECEIVING"
■ * —— CHIEF JUSTICE'S COMMENT (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Friday. A sentence of nine months' imprisonment was imposed by the cniet Justice, Sir Michael Myers, on Leonard James Thompson Ross, aged 39, proprietor of a firm of carriers for receiving five bottles of stolen whisky. His Honor said too much thieving and receiving was going on. As a business man prisoner had a greater responsibility than an ordinary citizen, and if he were granted probation it would be nothing more than an inducement to other persons to commit a like offence.
