■ ' • — ... i - 18TH BALLOT APPEALS Appeals with respect to reservists called up in the 18th ballot were heard at sittings of the No. 2 Armed Forces Appeal Board yesterday afternoon and last night. In most cases exemption from military service was sought on the grounds of public interest. In a number of cases appeals were lodged on the grounds of undue hardship.' An adjournment sine die was granted in respect of appeals by or on behalf of the following reservists:—\V. R. Taylor (appeal by the Auckland Catering Company), N. A. V. Godward, A. L. Griffiths (Auckland Terrazzo Company, Ltd.), F. H. McAnulty, G. Lendrum (J. L. Griffiths and Sons), J. P. Morman (Newmarket Furnishers). An appeal against overseas service by B. M. Sutherland on behalf of K. Sutherland was adjourned sine die. The board dismissed appeals by or on behalf of the following reservists, an order being made that calling up be not before a certain date:—R. D. Bell (Geddis and BlomHeld), H. H. Pettitt, J. H. M. Hogan, H. J. Miller.
