CITY-SUBURBAN CHAMPION
GOES SOUTH TO JOIN AIR FORCE On the departure of Charlie Kerr for an air force station in the South Island, the members of the Green Lane Cricket Club met, and in farewelling this popular member anct secretary of the club, they made him a presentation of a money belt and holdall.
Following his meteoric performance in storing 122 when included in the Auckland representative XI. which beat Wellington by an innings at Eden Park last February, Kerr has been in superlative form in this summer's City and Suburban competition.
His record this season is:— Batting.—V. Brixton, 73 not out; Manukau B, 18; Air Force. 90; R.V., 73 not out; M.T.P., *71 not out; Brixton (second round) 45. Total. 370 for three dismissals, average 123.33. Bowling.—V. Brixton, one for 32; Manukau B, four for 39; Air Force, four for 44; R.V., seven for 48; M.T.P., three for 69. Total, nineteen wickets for 232 runs, average 12.21. A left-handed batsman and slow bowler, lie is a son of Alec Kerr. That medium-paced left-hander was in the great Auckland side which beat Canterbury by an innings at Hagley Park 35 years ago this week, and brought the Plunket Shield to Auckland for the first time. WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION. —Matches for Saturday at Melville Park at 1.45 p.m.—Senior: Trainins College v. Suburbs; A.L.H.A. v. North Shore (at Takapuna). Intermediate: Training College v.
