ACROBAT AND DANCER
Dark, olive-skinned beauty contest winner and dancer, known throughout Germany as La Jana, has won Adolf Hitler's favour, according to dispatches from neutral capitals.
She is at his side at all Berlin social functions.
Travellers who had recently left the Reich said that Hitler is obsessed with this 32-year-old woman, who started her professional career as an acrobat and became a dancer after winning beauty honours in Berlin, Karlsbad, Budapest and Vienna.
La Jana is far from Hitler's usual Aryan type. She is almost Spanish in appearance. She was born in Frankfort and studied under Max Reinhardt before making her stage debut. Two years ago she was erroneously reported to have died. She married Michael Bohnen, a German baritone and opera singer. One of her most frequent escorts used to be ex-Crown Prince Wilhelm, son of the former Kaiser.
To-day Hitler, who is said to be desperately jealous of her, is her sole escort. La Jana's legs and shoulders are reported to be insured for £20,000.
The current joke in Berlin is that La Jana's acrobatic experience would help the Fuehrer in his carpet-biting and curtain-shinning frenzies.
