OBITUARY
MB. DAWSON DONALDSON
The death occurred yesterday of Mr. Dawson Donaldson, aged 75, brother of Mr. S. Donaldson, Mayor of Newmarket. Born in Northern Ireland, Mr. Donaldson came to New Zealand as a child. His parents settled in Auckland, and the family became well-known at Newmarket.
Later, Mr. Donaldson went to Waihi, where he carried on a business as a boot and shoe retailer. He served as Mayor of Waihi for about eight years. On his retirement he took up residence in Auckland, and was active in various bodies. He served on the Auckland City Council for two terms from 1931 to 1935, and was a Justice of the Peace. He was chairman of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children, president of the New Zealand Evangelical and Publications' Association, and was associated with the Auckland Ladies' Benevolent Society. Mr. Donaldson is survived by his wife, three sons, two of whom are serving with the Royal New Zealand Navy, and three daughters
