RECAPTURE OF PRISONER
ESCAPEE FROM TOKAANU (P A.) TAIHAPE, this day. An escapee from the Rangipo prison camp in Tokaanu on Monday, Kenneth Ldward Austin, aged 22, was recaptured at Taihape on Wednesday after a police chase through the town. He was charged before J.P.'s yesterday, and sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment with hard labour. He stole military clothing valued at £7 from a nearby camp, and hitch-hiked to Taihape. He said he left prison because a conscientious objector stole the go6d jobs there.
