POST-WAR TRADE
RUMOURS IN LONDON LONDON, Sept. 27. Rumours are current about the holding of far-reaching talks towards establishing after the war a freer system of world trade, with provision for the support of currencies of weaker countries. Currency experts say that gold buried in the Kentucky vaults would obviously play a big part in any such scheme. Gold school supporters point out that, despite German anti-goid propaganda, new currencies created in Serbia and Croatia (Yugoslavia), with German and Italian approval, are based on a certain weight' of gold. There is considerable discussion In the Citv about the Lease-Lend arrangements, particularly in relation to the new doctrine of equal sacrifice which President Roosevelt recently enunciated Shrewd observers stress the complexities and bickering which the doctrine may produce in apportioning the war damage burden. The present City view is that even strongly-organised FarEastern interests, including banks, rubber growers and tin producers will not succeed for some time in obtaining an exact clarification of Government intentions.
