APPEAL FOR TEACHER
BOARD MEMBERS DIFFER The case of a teacher who had been called up but who did not wish t.o be appealed for, since a married teacher living near his school was prepared to take his place, came before the Auckland Education Board this morning. The board decided to adhere to its policy, recently announced, of appealing for teachers drawn in the last ballot.
Mr. \V. I. Bowyer disagreed with the decision. "Under the circumstances, I consider an appeal for this man should not be made," he said. "There will be plenty of gaps in the fighting zone which such a man could fill, and it is wrong to keep him here if another teacher is able to take his place."
