TRAM CONDUCTRESSES

A further 20 women have started training as tram conductors. The total now in employment is a little over 100. Mr. A. E. Ford, engineermanager of the Auckland Transport Board, said that the women had proved highly successful. They were trained in batches of 20, and during their training were given a brief examination in arithmetic among other subjects.
