READJUSTMENTS

NO DEVELOPMENTS NATIONALIST MINISTERS (0.C.) WELLINGTON, this day. No indication was forthcoming from the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, to-day, of the readjustments he is likely to make arising from the Oppositions withdrawal from the War Administration.

No fresh point of interest has been created in the political position of Mr. Coates and Mr. Hamilton, who are continuing to co-operate with the Government on war matters. While they no longer represent the Nacronal party in the War Cabinet, they have not resigned from the party, nor has there been any indication from Mr. Holland of their exclusion from the party. However, the next Opposition caucus must disclose whether they will be invited to attend.

VALUABLE WORK

TRIBUTE BY MR. FRASER (0.C.) WELLINGTON, Monday. "I have noted and understand the reason for your taking this step, but nevertheless regret exceedingly that there should have been any such cause for your adopting this course," states the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, in letters written to Mr. Coates and Mr. Hamilton in reply to communications from them that they were tendering their resignations as members of the Executive Council, this involving their membership of the War Cabinet.

"The services which you have rendered during your term of office have been of great value and it would be regrettable, particularly at this very critical stage of the war, if your experience and knowledge were to be lost to the country.

"In these circumstances I would like to inquire whether you would be prepared to accept reappointment as members of the War Cabinet and, if, as I sincerely hope will be the case, you are able to see your way to continue to assist and co-operate in the prosecution of the war effort to the same extent as hitherto. I shall be pleased to recommend to his Excellency the Governor-General that you be again appointed as members of the Executive Council. - '
