REGAL FOX'S SECOND CUP IN SUCCESSION
Following his pronounced win in the Avondale Cup a fortnight earlier, Regal Fox gave another taste of his quality on Saturday, when he took the Poland Cup at Ohlnemurl in a manner which made it clear that he Is one of the best handicap horses seen out in Auckland for some time.
The son of Foxbridge, which was ridden by his trainer, H. Goldfinch, had 9.0, but he made light of the impost and had the race won a long way from home. At one stage" he was out five lengths clear and the fact that he won by only half a length was due to his rider allowing him to run along easily in the straight. Erndale, which has been mixing his racing, beat the remainder, and Foxsen, which Is coming back to form, was third, and an early win may come her way. The Flying Handicap saw that good mare Foxola beat the pronounced favourite, Sure Pay, after the latter had a big break at one stage. Foxola showed a fine dash of speed swinging round the home turn to overhaul Sure Pay, and she should be an even better mare next time out. Esquire, at any old price, was third. The weather was excellent and the track good. An Increase was shown in the totallsator investments, the amount being £38,453 10/ against £30,644 last year, an increase of £7809 10/.
