CAR AND TRUCK
SPECTACULAR CRASH
NURSE'S LUCKY ESCAPE
A district nurse's car and a Fletcher Construction Company truck were involved in a collision at the corner of Owen's Road and Gillies Avenue, Epsom, about 11.45 this morning.
The driver of the truck, Mr. Friend, was i taken to hospital by a St. John ambulance. The nurse, Sister M. I. Carrington, of the St. John Ambulance Association, was not hurt.
Sister Carrington was driving along Gillies Avenue towards Newmarket, when the collision occurred with the truck, which was coming down Owen's Road. The truck continued its career and crashed through the stone wall of a residence on the corner, and landed up by the steps, tearing away a large piece of the wall. The car was thrown on to the rockery and boulders were strewn about the path.
