GUM TREES FELLED
•0.c.) ROTORUA, Sunday. The avenue of gum trees along the road between Rotorua and Whakarewarewa, the removal of which has for some time been the subject of controversy, including representations made recently to the Rotorua Borough Council by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Parry, will soon have disappeared. A start was made on Friday by contractors to the borough council with the removal of the trees on both sides of the road. By Saturday half the trees on the eastern side had been felled.
