CRUSH JAPANESE
Need Stressed For Reopening Of Burma Road CHINA HANDICAPPED Rec. noon. NEW YORK, Oct. 1. "China is determined to crush the Japanese, but has not the means with which to fight. Is it to be wondered if some little bitterness is felt in China when, with United States production figures soaring, so little is coming into China?" This statement was made by Dr Wen Yuanning, Chinese Ministry of Information spokesman, in stressing the need for the reopening of the Burma Road.
Eight Japanese generals have been killed in the fighting in China in recent weeks, according to reports from Chinese sources.
The Chinese are fighting for two towns in the eastern Chekiang province, Lanchi, and a town 33 miles to the north-east.
