OBITUARY
>IK. X. A. WINTER The death has occurred of Mr. Nathaniel Alfred Winter, aged 82. Mr. Winter was born in County Cork. Ireland, and came to New Zealand in 1593 after graduating at London University. A teacher by profession, he taught in several North Island schools, including the Beresford Street and the Onehunga High schools. For a number of years he gave up teaching and became the proprietor of the Taumarunui Press before it was established as a daily paper, but he later re-entered the profession, and at the time of his retirement in 1926 was a master at the Auckland Grammar School. A foundation member of both the French Club in Auckland, and the Lodge Naumai, Mr. Winter wrote several articles on the King Country. He is survived by his wife, a son, and three grandchildren.
