NURSING AIDS
PLAN AT HOSPITAL
Adopted by the Hospital Board last night was a special committee's plan to form a corps of 60 women between the ages of 17 and 43 who would sign on as nursing aids for the duration of the war.
The committee's recommendations, which were adopted, included the following: That the auxiliaries be provided with working uniformsthat they be employed six days a week, eight hours a day; that, when not required at the emergency hospital. their services be utilised'at the hospital and the infirmary, in training and attending lectures; that the corps be under the charge of the lady superintendent of the hospital; that wages be £2 4/8 a week, with meals while on duty and with travelling expenses over 3/ a week; that sick and holiday leave be on the same basis as for nurses.
Voluntary aids may transfer from Voluntary Aid Detachments to the Auxiliary Nursing Service. Women who are members of the St. John or Red Cros nursing divisions will be permitted to wear a badge indicating their membership.
