WOMEN'S CONTESTS

CHAMPIONSHIP TO MOUNT EDEN The final games in the senior competition were played last Saturday at Melville Park. Mt. Eden emerged champion for 1942, TraLning College being runners-up.

University fielded a weakened team of junior and senior players for its game against Mt. Eden. Wesley defaulted to Training College. Technical was forced to draw on the intermediate XI in order to place a team against Nortn Shore, which also could only muster ten players.

Mt. Eden 7, v. University o.—The game was uninteresting throughout. There seemed a lack of understanding between players, and very little combination was seen in either forward line. Corringham. right wing for Mt. Eden, was not given sufficient play. The centre forward would do better to play b«th lines. Kirkpatrick. while a good right half, seemed bewildered in the centre position, allowing Hogben to cut through repeatedlv. Askew was safe at fullback, timing and placing her shots to adva»tage. University's weak backs were no match for Cameron's solo efforts. This player netted four easy goals. Hogben, centre forward for 'Varsity, was the outstanding player. Her stickwork and ball control in the field were of a high standard. She is a player deserving of representative honours. Scorers for Mt. Eden were Cameron 4, McCutcheon 2, and Todd 1.

North Shore 2, v. Technical 2.—Players were moved from their usual positions in the Technical team owing to a number being absent. Anderson, who went to centre forward, played creditablv, while McKenzie went up from fullback to left wing. The backs were weak, both being drawn from the intermediate grade. Thwaites. at left half, played a sterling game, and has been most consistent throughout the season. Shore, with four players in the forward line, repeatedly reached the opponents' circle but failed to carry on. Conquest was the best of the line. Fletcher usually a sound half back, wandered out of position leaving the centre wide open. Conquest notched both goals for North Shore and Anderson scored an equal number for Technical.
