Britain And United States To Be Exclusive Buyers
AGREEMENT INCLUDES N.Z.
LONDON, Sept. 28.
Britain and the United States are ,to become the exclusive buyers of 'all oils and fats available to the United Nations throughout the world. Such an agreement has been announced by the Combined Food Board, which says it followed a survey of supplies which disclosed an urgent situation.
The agreement, which is now in effect, has been accepted by the food [authorities of the United States, the |United Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
The agreement provides for the United States to make exclusive purchases of fats, oilseeds and oil from North and South America, the Caribbean Islands, Portuguese Africa, Spanish Africa and Liberia. The United States is also to buy copra in Tahiti and all the French Pacific islands.
The United Kingdom is to purchase animal fats from Argentina and Uruguay and fats, oilseeds and oils from the British Empire, Fighting French Africa and the Belgian Congo.
