LAVAL MINISTERS
Threat To Resign Over Jew
Persecutions
NO SUPPORT FOR POLICY
Rec. 1.30 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 28. Two of Laval's Cabinet Ministers, M. Barthelemy, Minister of Justice and M. Romier, Minister without portfolio, have threatened to resign if the persecution of Jews continues, reports Reuters correspondnt on the French frontier. Many priests and members of religious orders are wearing the Star of David as a protest against the persecutions. Gringoire and other collaborationist newspapers declare that there were 2,700,000 Jews in France, who were swamping the Mediterranean coast. Neutral authorities estimate that there could not be more than 400,000 Jews in France in 1941. The exaggerated figure was obviously quoted with the object of stirring up the French anti-Semitism move;ment which so far is not being supported.
Berlin radio quotes a Vichy report that General Nogues, GovernorGeneral of Morocco, has established concentration camps for Jews.
