CLUBS AND SOCIETIES
Aew Women's Club.—The Rev. Jasper Calder entertained a large and appreciative audience of club members and friends describing his experiences, places seen and personalities met on his recent travels in America. The president, Mrs. W B. Darlow, presided. Pioneers Club.—The New Zealand and Descendants of Pioneers Club held its monthly afternoon meeting in the Fabian Rooms, Mrs. Johnston presiding. Several papers were read. Mrs. Bartleet gave a talk on "Early Days." Housewives' -Association.—The New Zealand Housewives' Association's monthly meeting was presided over by Mrs. J. B. Lush. Mrs. E H Smee gave an interesting talk on home gardening, and it was decided to form a gardening circle, with vegetable growing as the main objective.
