WOMEN AND WAR EFFORT

Dorothy Derig has championed the usefulness of women in war work. I am in complete agreement with her ideas that many avenues of activities are available wherein women's services could be successfully utilised. The spirit of the New Zealand women is expressed in the endeavours of the masses of industrialists who labour behind the wheels of production and those fine women labouring on the farms. But there is still much to do. When we see national danger it demands organisation. There can be no hesitancy, no half measures, and the only solution is a women's civil army. Women of New Zealand have the right to know what is expected of them in their country's need—war effort on a systematic basis. One in i every six of the population is engaged on war work. It is not enough. LET'S ALL BE IN.
