LIFEBOAT'S C ALLS PICKED UP Rec. 1 p.m. RUGBY. August 9. Messages from an auxiliarv wireless transmitter in a lifeboat* led to the rescue in mid-Atlantic oi 43 merchant seamen, who had been adrift for a week after their ship was sunk. \\ arships escorting a convov across the Atlantic heard a call to'a shore raoio station, giving the approximate position, and a slocp and a corvette were dispatched to find the lifeboat.
