PAPER PLASTIC FOR PLANES

A message from St. Louis savs that the McDonnell Aircraft Corporation has announced that it has completed successful experiments, using laminated paper plastic in the manufacture of wing tips, rudders, elevators. ailerons and other plane parts. The wing tip made of this pia.-tic is lighter and 40 per ccr.t stronger that aluminium, withstanding 2SOO pounds weight in a test. The smooth surface eliminates the finishing and coating proces.-es. and has greater resistance to abrasion and denting than aluminium. It can he moulded at less pressure than other plastics. Cheaper zinc and allov dies instead of expensive steel dies are used
