VAN DERBY SOLD

SEW HOME IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA Mr. E. Tatlow has disposed of his great pacing stallion Van Derby (2.0 2-5J to .Messrs. G. W. and H. W. Brooks, of South Australia. As this handsome stallion, by Globe Derby from Roselawn (dam also of Lawn Derby, 1.59 2-5), has already proved himself a good siring son of Australia's greatest sire, his new owners are to be congratulated on their purchase, says the Australian Trotting Record. The saturation of Tasmania with the blood of Globe Derby was the deciding factor in the sale, and Mr. Tatlow certainly looked ahead when he imported Raider (1.59J) as an out-cross. In addition to acquiring Van Derby, Messrs. Brooks also purchased from the "Derby Lodge" establishment the brood mares Calm Queen, May's Machine, and a mare by imported Rey de Oro. That the South Australians nave every confidence in the future has been amply demonstrated, and they have the nucleus of a fine stud.
