WAGGING TONGUES
Mr. Roosevelt's Admonition
Aimed At All
NECESSARY LECTURES
Rec. 11 a.m. WASHINGTON, May 15.
Asked regarding his admonition at the Pacific Council conference about loose talk, President Roosevelt said it was quite customary for him to lecture on the wartime danger of loose talk. He added sharply: "There's more of it in Washington than in all the rest of the country put together."
Such lectures as were given the Pacific Council were much needed, Mr. Roosevelt said, but he indicated that Wednesday's admonition had been directed not alone at loose talk in Washington, He said he had mentioned the Far East. When he was told Mr. Curtin had said Mr. Roosevelt was not referring to him, Mr. Roosevelt asserted that his words were aimed not alone at Australia but at India, Egypt, South America and, in fact, every continent.
