Trainers Busy With Jumpers At Ellerslie

A\ith the approach of the jumping season, several novice hurdle and steeplechase candidates are undergoing a course of schooling at Ellerslie. and more is likely to be heard of them.

The Peach Brandy gelding Bisquit Is to make his initial appearance as a 'chaser at the AVaikato meeting next week, and is worth keeping in mind. On each occasion that he has been tried over the big fences Bisquit has shown marked ability and should pay his way in the new department.

Lady Ex. who figures in a minor hurdle event at Te Papa, has also been revealing plenty of dash in her schooling tasks at headquarters. The (laughter of Lord Qui'X is well seasoned and has abundance of speed, consequently it should not take her 'c>ng to make good over the battens.

Another candidate likely to be seen out in hurdle events is Lady Acushla. whose form on the flat has not reached the standard expected. This mare is a natural jumper, and as she can handle heavy going. she will have conditions to her liking during the winter season.

Groat Xicht. a stable mate of Lady Acushla. will also he seen in action as a jumper later on. Earlier in the week this mare pave a very satisfactory exhibition over four hurrlles and is the right Stamp for the game. Oreat Night. winner of four races on the flat, is by Nightmarch from Bonnie Dawn, an imported mare by Greenback, sire of Paper Money.

After a lengthy spell from racing. Hot Shot is to make a reappearance at the W.iikato meeting, where he will contest the principal hurdle event. In recent trials over the battens Hot Shot clearly demonstrated that he had lost none of his ability. Still, he will need a bit of racing before he reaches his best. WILL C.KT SUPPORT The sprinter Dinki Di is to remain at F.llerslie until after the Great Northern meeting. His second to Sure Pay in the Mount Eden Handicap last week was a good performance, and he will have plenty of friends the next time he goes to the post. A CONSISTENT FILLY Cherry's Ticket is being kept going by F. Gilchrist, and will make her next appearance at the Great Northern meeting. The daughter of Crouper and Ticket, who is in first rate order, has been a consistent performer this season. She drew the outside position (No. 27) in the Mount Eden Handicap, and that no doubt contributed to her failure. ADDED TO LIST The two-year-olds Elect, bv Brolefort— Columba. and Hot Pursuit, bv Foxbridge— Caliente. were recently operated on. and they will race as geldings in the future. CORNWALL CANDIDATE Since racing at Ellerslie last week, Sir Cameron has not been over-taxed, but no fault can be found with his condition. The son of Posterity is due to have his next outing in the Cornwall Handicap, and he will be a better horse when that event is decided.
