IDLE AND DISORDERLY
MAORI GIRL. IMPRISONED
(0.C.) WHANGAREI, Friday. , Hoana Wiremu or Hannah Williams, aged 19, was to-day sentenced by justices of the peace to a fortnight s imprisonment for being idle and disorderly with no lawful means of support.
Senior-Sergeant A. Henderson said she was one of several Maori girls who had come to Whangarei and were consorting with soldiers. Other prosecutions would follow unless the position improved. Since her arrival in Whangarei a fortnight ago Williams had done only two days' work She had slept in a stable and when arrested was in a dirty condition.
