SINCE PEARL HARBOUR

U.S. WAR PRODUCTION

(P.A.)

WELLINGTON, this day.

In four months since Pearl Harbour, the United States has launched 138 ships—one battleship two cruisers, 18 destroyers, five submarines and 112 merchant ships, according to advice received from the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of the British Empire by the New Zealand Associated Chambers of Commerce.

The number of aircraft produced Totalled 15,000, and the number of tanks came to 10,000. American oil wells produced 500,000,000 barrels of crude oil—two-thirds of the world output. These are figures for the first four months of the year; there is every reason to believe they will be almost doubled in th« last fcvur months of the year.
