WOMEN JURORS
SUITABLE QUALIFICATIONS (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Power for women between the ages of 25 and 60 to serve as jurors is contained in the Women Jurors Bill, which Mrs. M. M. Dreaver (Government, Waitemata) gave notice of her intention to introduce in the House of Representatives to-night. The measure proposes that women in the stipulated age group who possess the qualifications to serve as jurors required by the principal Act in the case of men, and who are not exempted or disqualified by the principal Act, shall be liable and qualified to serve on juries if they notify the sheriff in writing of the'ir desire to serve.
Another clause provides for the sheriff to inform the superintendent of police in every jury district of the names and addresses of women desiring to serve on juries, and if the superintendent is satisfied with their qualifications their names may be added to the lists of persons qualified and liable to serve.
