SCHEME SUSPENDED
The remount encouragement scheme, commonly known as the sire subsidy scheme, is to be discontinued in Xew Zealand till after the war. The combined committee of the Racing and Trotting Conferences decided last month to suspend its support for the duration of the war, but that such support be renewed after the war to the extent of the funds available. This support was a percentage of totalrsator revenue. Continuation of the subsidy scheme has recently been considered by Cabinet, which decided to suspend the operations of the scheme till after the war. The Government grant was £4000 yearly.
